The GLC Professional Fellows Fall 2022 delegation is arriving in the US this week. The 15-member delegation from Albania, Bulgaria, Hungary, Romania and Slovakia will start its six-week fellowship on governance and society in the United States as part of a U.S. Department of State Professional Fellows Program managed by GLCAP/GLC.

The delegation will arrive in Toledo, Ohio, on September 22, 2022 and stay there for 4 days. In Ohio they will learn from and share experience with local leaders as well as non-profit organization partners and will have an opportunity to gain first-hand experience how issues in their field are addressed in the United States and compare with their countries.

From Ohio the fellows will travel first to Chicago and afterward to different cities across the U.S. for their 4-weeks tailored internship experience at a community organization. In early November, at the conclusion of the program, the fellows will meet with exchange programs’ participants from around the world at a Professional Fellows Congress in Washington, D.C.

GLCAP has hosted Professional Fellows delegations since 2012 and altogether 300 European fellows had an opportunity already to be part of this exchange program. Since the pandemic this is the first delegation that could complete the full 6-week program in the United States. While organizing in-person exchanges during COVID-19 is more challenging, we believe that building people to people relationships needs in-person activities and we will do all what we can to mitigate the risk of getting sick or exposed to COVID.
